Typical RGS workstations will log a user off after a certain period of inactivity. However, some users may find a need to keep a session logged in for an extended period of time (i.e. rendering a model.) Extended use RGS (xRGS) workstations are available for students of the college to use once per semester. These workstations will not force a user to log out for a long period of time. In order to use xRGS, you must become a member of the xRGS group.
A user can add themselves to the xRGS group for one week per semester, but if they need more time than that, they must contact the CAEDM administrators. To use xRGS, add yourself to the group. Then, log into an xRGS blade using the Extended Use Role in the SAM client. Once logged into the blade, you will not be forced to log off for a week. Make sure you sign up right before you need it, otherwise you might run out of time. Remember that you can only sign up once per semester. Remember, these resources are limited, so please do not expect them to be available during high traffic periods (e.g. finals week).
