The CAEDM Application servers allow users to run CAEDM applications from their own computer.

  • Citrix Application Servers - Windows-based applications
  • RGS High-Performance Blade Workstations - High-end Windows/Linux-based Graphics/CAD applications
  • SSH Access for a Linux command line - Linux-based workspace
  • X Server/XLaunch on Linux Workspace - Linux-based workspace

RGS High-Performance Blade Workstations - <a href="https://www.et.byu.edu/groups/wiki/index.php?articleID=631">More information </a>

 • In order to login to the RGS Blades, you will need to download the RGS/SAM client to your computer.  If your computer runs Windows click <a href="http://remote.et.byu.edu/setup-caedm-rgssam.exe">here</a>.  If your computer runs Linux click <a href="https://info.et.byu.edu/index.php?articleID=682">here</a>. If you need to run the Windows client without being able to install anything, such as from a thumb drive or TEC podium, click <a href="http://remote.et.byu.edu/caedm-sam-thumb-F11.exe">here</a>. It is preconfigured to connect to the CAEDM RGS Blades.


SSH Access for a Linux command line - <a href="https://www.et.byu.edu/groups/wiki/index.php?articleID=567">More information</a>
 • In order to access a Linux command line, you will need to do the following:
   • From Windows: <a href="http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html" target="_blank">download Putty</a> and then use it to connect to ssh.et.byu.edu
   • From Linux: Type in "ssh user_name@ssh.et.byu.edu"


X Server/X Launch - <a href="https://www.et.byu.edu/groups/wiki/index.php?articleID=579">More information</a>
 • In order to use X Server/X Launch on Linux workspace, you will need to <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/xming/" target="_blank">download X Ming</a> and install it on your computer.
