Installing RGSConnect for Mac has two main sections; installing the RGSConnect command line utility for Mac and installing the Mac HP ZCentral Remote Boost client.
For instructions on how to use the RGSConnect command line utility for Mac, see the usage instructions.
Install the RGSConnect command line utility for Mac
- Download the shell script rgsconnect_installer.sh to your "Downloads" folder. On a Mac, you may need to right click on the link, and select "Download Linked File..." Save the file to the default location of your "Downloads" folder. If your Mac does not have a "right mouse" button, hold down the "control" key when clicking the link.
- Open a terminal window on your Mac. If you are unfamiliar with opening a terminal window on a Mac, reference this article.
- Inside the terminal window, type:
cd ~/Downloads
This will change your current directory in the terminal window to your user's "Downloads" folder. - In the terminal window, type
sudo chmod +x rgsconnect_installer.sh
This command temporarily gives your user root access to your machine and grants permissions for the rgsconnect_installer.sh script to execute. - In the terminal window, type
./rgsconnect_installer.sh
This will run the installer. The installer unpackages a few files and places them in the /Applications/RGSConnect/ folder, and also creates a shortcut in your /usr/local/bin folder - The RGSConnect command line utility for Mac installation is now complete. Move on to installing the Mac HP RGS client.
Install HP ZCentral Remote Boost
- Download the installer. By default it should download to the "Downloads" folder.
- From the Mac Finder, right click on the downloaded file, "HP_RGS_Installer.pkg", and select "Open With", "Installer". If you skip this step and simply try to double-click on the installer package, MacOs will complain that it cannot guarantee the package is free of viruses and malware, and it will NOT install.
- Install the software as usual, using "continue" and "Install", etc, as prompted.
