All three VPN types are supported on Android 4.0 or higher. The following instructions will help you create and use the VPN option of your choice. For more information on the VPN types, see VPN.

Using the IKEv2 Option on Android (preferred)

Setup the CAEDM IKEv2 VPN on Android

  1. Open the Google Play app.
  2. Search for "strongSwan"
  3. Select "strongSwan VPN Client", and select "Install"
  4. Open the newly installed strongSwan app
  5. Select "ADD VPN PROFILE"
  6. Enter the following information:
    1. Profile Name: CAEDM IKEv2 VPN
    2. Gateway: vpn.et.byu.edu
    3. Type: (Select "IKEv2 EAP (Username/Password")
    4. Username: (enter your CAEDM username)
    5. Password: (enter your CAEDM password)
    6. CA certificate: (check mark "Select automatically")
  7. Select "SAVE"

Connecting to the CAEDM IKEv2 VPN on Android:

  1. Open the strongSwan app
  2. Select the CAEDM IKEv2 VPN connection
    • NOTE: You may be prompted to allow strongSwan to intercept network traffic. To continue, select "I trust this application" and select "OK"

You are now connected to the CAEDM IKEv2 VPN.

Disconnecting from the CAEDM IKEv2 VPN on Android:

  1. Open the strongSwan app
  2. Select "Disconnect"

You are now disconnected from the CAEDM IKEv2 VPN.

  2. Tap on "Install" and wait for the app to download
  3. Tap "Open" to configure the VPN
  4. In the box labeled "VPN Name:" type CAEDM SSL VPN
  5. Under "VPN Type:", tap on "SSL VPN"
  6. tap the "create" button. If it is covered by your keyboard then hit the <- soft back button on the lower right hand side of your device first.

  2. Enter your CAEDM username and password, and then click "Login"

Note: If all you see is a white screen, it could be because you need to pinch the screen to zoom out. You can also try panning towards the center of the page where the login box is located.
